Learn to ride with BSM
How to get your full licence
The rules on motorcycle licensing can seem complicated, so we've created a simple step-by-step guide to take you through the process.
Licenced to ride
Provisional motorcycle licence or a provisional motorcycle entitlement on a full car licence.
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
Usually, a one-day course that teaches you the basics about motorcycling. You’ll need to pass this to progress to full licence training.
Practice and further training
Learners must display L-plates, may not ride on motorways and may not carry pillion passengers. Learners are generally restricted to motorcycles up to 125cc. Those aged over 21 can practice on larger machines while accompanied by an approved motorcycle instructor on another bike in radio contact.
Motorcycle Theory Test
Designed to test your knowledge of road riding and hazard perception.
Standard Motorcycle Licence
Take test on a motorcycle of between 121cc-125cc and capable of 100kph.
