Become a motorcycle instructor

Instructor training with BSM

Our focus is on tailoring a course to suit your personal needs and providing you with a high level of service so that you’ll have the best chance of completing your training successfully.

Benefits of BSM training

We’ve been running instructor training for both cars and motorbikes for many years, so we’ve built up considerable experience in putting together training courses. When you train with BSM, you’ll receive all the teaching, support and learning materials you’ll need to qualify as a motorcycle instructor.

BSM’s training package is designed around the three stages of qualification. You can choose the level of qualification you need and can train at your own pace. All training is conducted at our purpose-built national training centre in Birmingham. Our DSA-qualified instructors are friendly and professional and they’ll be there to help you at each stage of your training.

Initial training

This is the first level of training and will give you all the basics that you’ll need to become a competent instructor. You’ll spend six days at our national training centre at Wheels Park in Birmingham on a course that combines a mixture of theory and practical sessions under the guidance of our instructor trainers. You’ll be joined by other trainee instructors for what is a stimulating and enjoyable week. On the final day, you will be assessed to determine whether you’ve achieved the required standard. Once you’ve completed this course to an acceptable level, you’ll be able to apply for a certificate to train with your chosen ATB.

Pre-Cardington course

This is the second level of qualification. You’ll have the opportunity to spend a further three days at our training centre in Birmingham, which will fully prepare you for your two-day assessment at the DSA Centre in Cardington. If you pass the assessment, you’ll be able to set up your own ATB and supervise other instructors.

Pre-DAS course

You’ll train for a further two days in preparation for the final DAS qualification at Cardington. If you pass this, you’ll be able to train all levels of motorcycle learners.
