Your provisional licence

Refused a driving licence?

There are some circumstances under which the DVLA may refuse to issue a driving licence, such as on medical grounds. All licence application forms contain a series of health questions, which you must complete with details of any medical condition or disability that you have. You can also download and complete the relevant medical questionnaire and enclose it with your application to help the DVLA speed up the processing of your application.

There are some medical conditions for which a restricted licence might be issued, which would then be considered for renewal after a set period of time. Find out more at www.direct.gov.uk/Motoring.
