Your lessons, your way

Everyone learns in different ways. So when you sign up to BSM, one of the first things we'll do is work out a personal lesson plan. It'll be designed to give you the very best chance of passing your test and will help turn you into a safe and confident driver.

So how does it work? Well, for a start, we'll want to find our about your driving experience so we know how many lessons you might need in total. Then we'll work out how many sessions we can fit into a week. We usually recommend at least a two-hour lesson each week, because most people find this works best. But it's your call and we'll fit around your life as best we can.

To get the most out of your lessons, come prepared:

Wear the right gear - Comfy clothes and especially shoes are a must. No steel-capped boots or high heels please.

Think ahead – You'll need to be aware and alert during your lesson. So don't have a big night out the day before - or drink alcohol. Tell your instructor if you're unwell as some medicines can make you drowsy and not safe to drive.

Don't worry about nerves – It's perfectly natural to be nervous when learning to drive. But don't worry – just tell your instructor how you're feeling and he or she will know exactly how to help.

Follow the rules – You can still get penalty points before you pass your test – for speeding for example. So come prepared, knowing your Highway Code and your responsibility as a driver.

Honing your skills

Most people find that theory and practice work best hand in hand. With BSM, we help you learn both at the same time. So, what you learn in theory is put into practice on the roads, all with the support of our professional instructors.

After your first lesson

We'll give you a call after your first lesson to make sure everything went well. And while we'll always try to give you an instructor that's right for you – if something's not quite right, we can always change your instructor.

It's your lesson

You're paying for your lessons, so why should you compromise?
At BSM we have the highest quality standards. So there'll be no stopping for petrol during the lesson or sharing your time with another student – unless it's for something you specifically need to learn about.

Tracking your progress

During lesson one, we'll give you your own copy of BSM's Track Record – a logbook to help you track your progress and for your instructor to plan your lessons. So you'll be able to see at a glance how you're doing and how far off the all-important BSM mock test day you are.
