Become an instructor
BSM instructor training
The second stage concentrates on developing your driving ability to make sure you meet the high standards required to be a driving instructor.
The training course
Again, this part of the BSM training starts off with a one-day introductory course to outline what you can expect to cover in this part of your training. This is followed by 20 hours of in-car training with your trainer and your learning partner. Before your actual test, you'll be able to take a mock test to make sure you're fully prepared. This will be under full exam conditions.
The Part 2 exam
This is a one-hour practical test of your driving ability, covering all types of road and traffic conditions. You'll need to perform a series of different manoeuvres and also complete an eyesight test and a series of safety questions. During the drive you'll be expected to demonstrate a high degree of technical skill, anticipation and awareness.
When you pass
You'll progress straight onto training for Part 3. Find out what's involved in Part 3 of your BSM training.
What if you don't pass?
If you don't pass, you can have a further two attempts at the Part 2 exam. Your trainer will be on hand to give you advice and support, and additional training is available if you need it.
