At the heart of the BSM package

These core elements of the BSM package are arguably some of the best in the industry:

Your new car

You will get a new air-conditioned Vauxhall Corsa Club 1.2, equipped with dual controls. Your car will be insured, fully serviced and maintained and we replace it on average every 16,500 miles.

If your car is ever off the road due to a breakdown or accident, we can usually provide you with a spare or replacement car the very same day, meaning you'll be able to carry on working. You can choose to upgrade your car from petrol to diesel, from manual to automatic, or from a Corsa to an Astra (fees apply). And, once you've held a BSM franchise for five years, you can upgrade to a Corsa diesel or Astra for free.

Better still, to help your car stand out from the crowd, you'll be driving around in the latest BSM livery, with its eye-catching design.

Diary management

To ensure that you don't get bogged down in administration, we can help manage your diary for you. This includes handling enquiries, booking lessons and collecting payments. This is managed from our state-of-the-art contact centre that's open 7 days a week, from 8am to 8pm weekdays, 9am to 5pm Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. You can also view and manage your diary via our online portal that is accessible from any PC, either at home or in your nominated BSM Centre (see below for more information). You keep us informed of your availability and we'll manage your diary in a way that suits you.

BSM Centres

We have an established network of 90 high street centres. Your local centre is somewhere you can grab a coffee, take a comfort break, catch up with other instructors and update your diary. And having a high street presence, the centres are also popular places for new and existing learners to book lessons and get some guidance and advice from the centre team.

Support from your local BSM Business Manager

You will be assigned a nominated Business Manager who will provide you with the help and advice you'll need to get the most out of your BSM franchise. They'll be there from the start and will continue to support you as you grow your franchise. Your Business Manager is only a phone call away and, as they're local, they can come and meet you face to face either in your nominated centre or at another convenient location.

Finding your learners

BSM is one of the best-known UK driving schools and supported by significant local and national advertising, directories (such as Yellow Pages), search engine listings and promotions. And, there's no better advertisement for the brand than the 3,000+ BSM cars on the streets of the UK, the 90 high street centres and the word of mouth recommendations from some of the tens of thousands of learners who pass their tests with BSM each year. You're also free to do your own promotional activities within BSM guidelines. To help you with this, we'll give you your own personal marketing kit containing publicity materials (except AFIs) and advice on how to raise your own profile in your local area.

Easy ways to handle your payments

Your learners can use a credit or debit car to pay for their lessons at one of the BSM centres or by ringing the contact centre. They can also opt to pay you directly using cash or a cheque. You simply deposit all the payments you receive at a NatWest branch (RBS in Scotland) using the drop-box facility or pay it in at your BSM centre, whichever is easier. Each week, your franchise fee will be deducted from the amount you have earned from teaching and you'll be paid the balance, which will be shown on your weekly statement. Unlike some schools, BSM doesn't levy an additional penalty charge if the value of your lessons doesn't cover your franchise fee.

Keeping your skill levels up

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training will soon be compulsory for all driving instructors. At BSM, we'll provide you with this training free of charge as part of your franchise package (conditions apply). With topics such as technical/specialist instruction and communication/presentation skills, we'll keep you at the cutting edge of instructor practice.
