Are you in control of your fleet?

The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 has placed fleet driver and pedestrian safety firmly on the shoulders of the person who looks after the fleet. Whether running your company's vehicles is your full-time role, or a responsibility you juggle with other work, your drivers' behaviour could be putting you at unnecessary risk.

What's more, the way your employees drive has a much greater impact on your company's profitability than you may think. Fuel consumption, wear and tear bills and CO2 emissions are all affected by driving style, which can add up to big costs for even the smallest fleet. Putting your drivers through our Thames Valley Police course also contributes to your Corporate and Social Responsibility Targets, which means one less thing to worry about.

Our well defined Thames Valley Police course is designed for organisations of all sizes to help them manage driver training and reduce occupational road risk. A two tier approach is aimed at establishing a 'Collision Avoidance Culture' amongst all employees. Prepared in conjunction with Thames Valley Police, it's an investment in your employees that will help cut costs and reduce the risk of failing to comply with the Corporate Manslaughter Act.

Better drivers make business sense

For nearly 100 years, BSM has been the UK's number 1 driver training organisation: across all these areas, our goal is simple – to create better, safer drivers all over the UK.

BSM Fleet Training

BSM provides a training package endorsed by Thames Valley Police which is aimed at companies and organisations interested in managing driver training and reducing occupational road risk. It may also help with control of fuel costs through the use of greener driving techniques.

Company Car Drivers

This option includes a short classroom* based presentation outlining drivers' responsibilities and a practical session concentrating on awareness of risk on the road and effective ways of reducing such risk.

Your company must carry out assessments in line with Health & Safety and Corporate legislation* monitoring issues affecting employees and the consequences of their activities whilst at work. This includes any cars your employees are driving, company or personal, during any journey undertaken for company related business. Company Directors and board members risk investigation and possible court action for any breaches of 'duty of care'.

Managers & Senior Staff

A classroom* based presentation covering such items as The Corporate Manslaughter Act and associated legislation and how this may impact on companies and organisations. It suggests ways in which company policy may be improved to satisfy the act and also looks at the training we provide to the company driver as well as covering "greener" driving techniques. It is followed by the same practical session as described above.

The Costs

  • The cost of the Company Car Driver option is £149.00 per delegate(ex.VAT)
  • The cost of the Managers' option is £199.00 per delegate (ex.VAT)

* Legislation referred to – Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 and the Health and Safety Offences Act 2008

I found the eco-driver training a great way to refresh my hazard perception skills whilst learning to drive safer and greener. The fuel savings since completing the programme have been surprising.
