The BSM Approach
BSM has been helping people to become better, safer drivers for almost as long as there have been cars. During this time we've evolved to become the foremost national driver training organisation in the UK.
Fully Accredited and holding Consultancy Status with the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), we work closely with the Government and other legislative bodies. We are a driving force in policy making to develop and maintain the highest standards of driving instruction and driver development in the country.
Our high standards start with the innovative and successful training programmes we have within our own Instructor Training School. These courses are nationally acknowledged as producing some of the best driving instructors across the UK.
And every day these highly qualified instructors help over 200 new drivers pass their theory and practical tests.
But it's not all about new learners - our course is used extensively by the Ministry of Defence, the Emergency Services, many County Councils and a host of commercial organisations.
Our Thames Valley Police package has been developed by experts in in-car coaching. They are specifically designed for the millions of car drivers that use the roads daily, including employees like yours.
The courses cover the key issues to help your drivers in specific advanced driving techniques. Reducing risk, improving fuel consumption, maintenance costs and minimising environmental damage are all part of the programme. What's more, they will help you to address compliance issues on the preparedness and abilities of your drivers.
Why not take a look at what we can do for your company?

Feedback from Participants on Driving Course - July 2009
“I found the training extremely beneficial for the following reasons:
- Experienced drivers too often take driving for granted. The training made me aware of my basic bad habits, albeit, low risk, which could compromise my own safety or the safety of my passengers.
- I learnt that in the event of an accident causing severe injury or death whilst driving a business vehicle, the driver is still liable. However, new legislation has come into effect whereby the business can also be found liable and be responsible for hefty fines. This can be avoided if the business can prove that a driving policy is in place and is adhered to, AND that drivers have undertaken Risk Assessment Training for safe driving. (This training is endorsed by The Thames Valley Police.)
There are a number of other positives to the training even though I have only made mention of two.
I would also like to add that the trainer was extremely professional and knowledgeable in all areas of the training. He was positive throughout and pointed out errors without making drivers feel any less confident in their driving abilities.”
“I thought that the driving course was good, and helpful tips were given on how to be a safer driver as bad habits can over time accumulate. I believe that every driver should do this course who drive for a company, especially when driving young people around with behaviour difficulties. I have taken on board the helpful tips and have been putting them into practice.”
“Just a quick feedback on the BSM course.
- The instructor was very knowledgeable and down to earth.
- The theory bit was good as there was a lot of legislation that I wasn't aware of concerning driver/employee rights and how they came into play when involved in an accident.
- The practical bit I found very informative as well. Especially when it came to driving techniques to save fuel and reduce engine wear and tear.
- Also just a very nice refresher when it comes to my general driving ability.
The bit I found really helpful was the feedback at the end along with the advice given as to where I can improve (strengths and weakness so to speak). Overall a very good course. It would be nice to see as a routine part of our annual training in my eyes.”
