BSM part of RAC

Today, with more than 170,000 pupils taught each year and more than 2,800 driving instructors across the UK, BSM is well established as one of the largest national driving schools.

BSM joins RAC

In 1998 BSM joined forces with RAC and became an integral part of its Consumer and Business Services Division. A year later, the RAC Motoring Services Group (including BSM) was bought by Lex plc, the motoring and vehicle solutions company, who announced in 2002 that the company would be known as RAC plc. BSM's branding has been refreshed to strengthen its links with the RAC brand.

The Aviva Group buys RAC

In 2005, RAC was bought by the Aviva Group to become a part of Norwich Union's business portfolio. BSM's association with RAC and Norwich Union enables us to offer our customers easy access to a range of highly competitive deals for motoring and insurance products and services.

A wealth of expertise

While BSM is best known for teaching pupils to drive, we're also one of the largest providers of training to people who want to become driving instructors. We are a founding member of ORDIT (Official Register of Driving Instructor Training) and play an active role in lobbying the government on road safety and learner driver-related issues. Throughout our history, BSM has been recognised as a leader in the field of driving tuition and road safety and is consulted regularly by many motoring organisations in the UK and abroad.

Leading the industry

At BSM, pupils have always benefited from quality tuition from our instructors, who we train to the highest professional standards. Today, our learners also benefit from taking their lessons in one of our fleet of Vauxhall Astras or award-winning* Corsas.
